Delete your ShommyX Education account

You can close your account yourself, at any time, without asking us. This page explains how, and exactly what goes with it.

First — if you are the only administrator of a school

Deletion is refused while you are the last administrator of a school. That is deliberate: removing you would leave that school with nobody able to invite staff, publish results or collect fees, and nobody able to grant those rights to anyone else. Make another member an administrator first, then come back. Everyone else — parents, teachers and other staff — can delete straight away.

Deleting from inside the app

  1. 1. Sign in and open Settings.
  2. 2. Scroll to Delete your account.
  3. 3. Type DELETE to confirm.
  4. 4. Confirm. It happens straight away, signs you out everywhere, and cannot be undone.

If you have already uninstalled

You do not need to reinstall. Email [email protected] from the address on the account and ask us to close it. We will verify the account is yours before doing anything, and confirm by email once it is done. Allow up to 30 days, though it is normally the same working day.

What is deleted

  • Your name and email address, and every other personal detail on your account.
  • Parents: your link to each of your children, including any request still waiting for the school to approve.
  • Staff: your access to every school you were assigned to.
  • The device registrations used to send you push notifications, so the messages stop.
  • Every signed-in session, on every device, immediately.

Your account is left as an empty, anonymous record rather than being removed row and branch — that is what keeps the school’s own history (who acknowledged which incident report, for instance) from developing holes. Nothing in it identifies you afterwards, and your email address is released so you can sign up again later if you want to.

What stays

  • Your child’s records. Attendance, results, report cards, incident reports and photos belong to the school, not to your account. Closing your account unlinks you from them; it does not delete them, and it cannot. Ask the school directly if you need a child’s records removed.
  • Fee payments and receipts. Those are the school’s financial records, and deleting your account does not erase them.
  • For staff, the work itself — registers you marked, reports you filed, results you entered. Those belong to the school, and removing them would put holes in records the school has to keep.

Want a copy first?

Deletion cannot be undone, so download your data before you start if you might want it. Settings has an export that gives you your personal information in a file you keep.
